What happens if the stolen laptop doesn’t connect to the Internet?
This is highly unlikely in the current climate. Most computers connect back to the internet within 60 days of being stolen because thieves inevitably turn them on to see if the computer is working.
What information is the Computrace agent reporting?
The Computrace Agent reports the make, model, hardware serial numbers and IP address of the computer. It also reports valuable IT asset management information such as the computer’s current hardware and software configuration.
How is the software provided to the customer when purchased as APOS?
Absolute will provide the customer with their own individual account. Once the customer logs into their secure online web portal using the logon details, they will then be able to download the software.
How is the software loaded when purchased as an APOS solution?
Computrace can be installed using an industry standard .msi installation package that can be deployed using standard

How do I know that the Monitoring Server and the Customer Centre is safeguarded against access by unauthorised users?
The Absolute Monitoring server can only be accessed via client-initiated Computrace agent communications. Access requires two-way authentication ensuring only valid Computrace agents can access the server.
All agent communications are encrypted with customers call statistics and asset tracking data is logically partitioned into separate accounts. Access to this data via the Customer Centre requires user authentication on a secure login page requiring a username and password.
Authorisation is handled via user profile setup. Admin users have the ability to restrict power and guest users to groups of Electronic Serial Numbers (ESNs).
I don’t feel comfortable that my activities on the computer being monitored?
The Computrace agent has no ability to monitor files or usage. It is simply looking at the computer not what staff are doing.
I’ve already bought my computer, how do I know this is compatible with the Computrace Software?
Absolute works with most leading computer manufacturers. The Computrace Agent is embedded in many computers at the factory. It can also be easily installed yourself.
